Domain Registration
.CN domains can be registered online. OBS: Registrera Domän erbjuder inte längre registrering av .cn domäner via vår hemsida p.g.a. de restriktioner som det kinesiska registriet infört. | CNNIC has
re-opened the registration connection for oversea registrars and allows
again the registration of .CN domains, but only for oversea
multi-national entities that have a China Branch.
Definition China Branch: international companies, enterprises and organizations that operate a wholly owned or share controlling entity in China, including a branch, a subsidiary or a representative office with same "name" as the parent entity. The person / employee submitting the application (owner contact) on behalf of the registrant (the entity), must be a Chinese citizen and must have a valid PRC personal ID. The complete application material has to include 3 parts: - the original application form of CNNIC stamped with business seal of the registrant - company business license (photocopy) - registrant ID (photocopy) of the person submitting the application on behalf of the company |

| Please note:
In order to improve the efficiency of auditing work for CN domain name
registration, CNNIC decided to change the auditing time from 30 days to 7
days. For any new CN domain name registration made after May 6th,
12:00AM, 2010, if it can not pass the auditing process within 7 calendar
days, the domain(s) will be deleted after that period.
Whether or not the domain is still in auditing process can been seen in the whois information of the domain. |

- No natural persons are able to register .CN domains.

- Prohibited Uses for .cn domain names. Registrant may not register or use a domain name that is deemed by CNNIC to:
- Be against the basic principles prescribed in the Constitution of the Peoples Republic of China (“PRC”);
- Jeopardize national security, leak state secrets, intend to overturn the government, or disrupt of state integrity of the PRC;
- Harm national honor and national interests of the PRC;
- Instigate hostility or discrimination between different nationalities, or disrupt the national solidarity of the PRC;
- Violate the PRC’s religion policies or propagate cult and feudal superstition;
- Spread rumours, disturb public order or disrupt social stability of the PRC;
- Spread pornography, obscenity, gambling, violence, homicide, terror or instigate crimes in the PRC;
- Insult, libel against others and infringe other people' s legal rights and interests in the PRC; or
- Take any other action prohibited in laws, rules and administrative regulations of the PRC.
Transfers
.CN Domain-Transfers are possible. Upon successfully transfering a domain, it is automatically renewed for one year. The registration period is extended by one year.
Transfer notes
- Please ensure, that you have a correct “Authorisation Code” associated with the domain, before initiating the transfer, otherwise it will fail.
- Ensure that your respective domain does not have a lock-status (REGISTRAR-LOCK or HOLD). This can be seen in the WHOIS. If the domain is locked, then the owner can demand that this be unlocked.
- Initiate the transfer on time and not just shortly before the domain expires. Transfers will be denied by the registry if they are not requested at least 16 days prior to a domain's expiration date.
- Please ensure that the domain is older than 60 days otherwise the transfer will be denied.
Transfer procedure
- .CN Domain-Transfers can either be done through the RRPproxy WebInterface or API.
- A .CN Domain Transfer must be initiated with a so-called "Authorisation Code", which can be obtained from the current registrar through the owner or Admin-C of the domain.
- Please note that you need a signed request from the registrant before you initiate the transfer.
